Issu des qualifications, Lucas Pouille se hisse en quart de finale du tournoi de Hambourg (Masters 500) en dominant la tête de série n°6 et 38e joueur mondial, Juan Monaco, 6-1, 7-5. Le Français, 85e joueur à l'ATP réalise l'une des plus belles performances de sa saison. Il rencontrera au prochain le vainqueur du duel entre un autre Français, Benoit Paire, et la tête de série n°2 du tournoi, l'Espagnol, Tommy Robredo.
